RED SKY AT NIGHT
Shepherds delight

Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning. Red sky at night, shepherds delight. Andrew's red sky at night in the heat of Australia reminds me of the magical clouds I've seen on long-haul flights. And of a memorable hot summer's evening here, around 9pm a few years ago, when a totally amazing 100% hazy orange sky descended out of nowhere.

Ophelia and I went outdoors, mesmerised. Everything had dramatically turned orange. Even my skin and Ophelia's fur. We stood bathed in a soft warm peachy glow. A strange ethereal light that cast no shadows. Not at all spooky. Ophelia loved it. We both did. Never seen anything like it, except maybe in Africa. All-enveloping, friendly and comforting. Secretly, I'd hoped it was God, here to stay. Or just passing through. Fifteen minutes later, the whole glowy ambience slowly faded away into the dark night.
